Does anyone have the recipe for Hermits from Marvin Small's ';The World's Best Recipes';?

Without a doubt, they are the world's best hermits. Really fantastic for Christmas because they are so like

Lebkuchen. In fact, I suspect that's just what they are.

No sorry, but I do have a really good recipe.

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup molasses

2 large egg whites

1 large egg

1/2 cup currants or raisins

1/3 cup chopped nuts

Powdered sugar for garnish

Preheat oven to 375*F (190*C).

In a medium sized bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and allspice.

In a large bowl, with an electric mixer on medium, cream the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add the molasses, egg whites, and egg; beat well.

Using a wooden spoon, stir in flour mixture until flour disappears. Fold in raisins and nuts.

Drop by tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Lightly sift powdered sugar over if you like.

found this on a website. I included the link at the bottom: Hope they are good.

1/4 cup raisins or currants

1/4 cup chopped nuts

2 cups flour

4 Tbl butter

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 tsp salt

2 eggs

1/2 cup molasses

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp cream of tartar

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp cloves

1/4 tsp mace

1/4 tsp nutmeg

Preheat the oven to 350掳F. Grease a 9 X 13-inch cake pan or some cookie sheets. Toss the raisins or currants and the chopped nuts in 1/4 cup of the flour; set aside.

Cream the butter, then add the sugar and blend well. Add the salt, eggs, and molasses and beat well. Mix together the remaining 1 3/4 cups flour, the baking soda, cream of tartar, cinnamon, cloves, mace and nutmeg; add to the butter-sugar-egg mixture and beat thoroughly.

Stir in the raisins and nuts. Spread in the pan or drop by teaspoonfuls onto the cookie sheets. Bake only until the top is firm and the center chewy, about 15-20 minutes for the squares or 8-10 minutes for the cookies
