I like vanilla and chocolate icing, but I also like other flavors if anybody has recipes for any icing I'd appreciate it!I want your best recipes for homemade icing?
My favorite homemade icing is the French Buttercream. It really does taste like vanilla ice cream and is, oh so creamy!!!
French Buttercream Frosting
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup milk
1 cup cold butter, cut in several pieces
1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
Place sugar, flour and salt in sauce pan and mix thoroughly: stir in milk. Cook over medium heat and stir constantly until very thick. Remove from heat and pour into a medium mixing bowl. Cool at room temperature. Add 1/2 cup butter at a time and beat at medium speed until smooth. Add vanilla and beat well. Chill icing for a few minutes before decorating. Iced cake must be refrigerated until serving time.

COCONUT PECAN FROSTING
1 cup Evaporated milk
1 cup Sugar
3 Egg yolks, slightly beaten
½ cup Butter
1 tsp Vanilla
1 1/3 cup Coconut, shredded
1 cup Pecans, coarsely chopped
1. Cook first 5 ingredients in heavy saucepan over medium heat until thick, about 12 minutes, stirring often
2. Remove from heat and add coconut and pecans
3. Cool until thick enough to spread, beating occasionally
4. Makes about 2 ½ cups
5. Excellent on chocolate cakes
SOUR CREAM FILLING AND FROSTING
2 cups Sugar
6 Tbsp Hershey’s chocolate syrup
2/3 cups Sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
1. In a saucepan combine sugar and chocolate syrup
2. When well mixed, add sour cream and cook over medium heat to the soft ball stage (234 degrees)
3. Remove from heat, add vanilla and beat until thick enough to spread
4. Frost cake
Best Ever Butter Cream Frosting:
* 1 egg white
* 3/4 cup milk
* 1 cup white sugar
* 1 cup butter, softened
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Heat milk to boiling, and then let cool. In a large bowl, beat egg white until stiff. Add sugar, butter, and vanilla. Mix with mixer till well blended. Add cooled milk, then beat until nice and creamy. Will take about 15 to 20 minutes of beating after adding the milk. Use to frost any kind of cake. Best if kept refrigerated after frosting cake.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting:
* 2 3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
* 6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
* 6 tablespoons butter
* 5 tablespoons evaporated milk
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. In a medium bowl, sift together the confectioners' sugar and cocoa, and set aside.
2. In a large bowl, cream butter until smooth, then gradually beat in sugar mixture alternately with evaporated milk. Blend in vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy. If necessary, adjust consistency with more milk or sugar.

Caramel Frosting V:
* 1 pound light brown sugar
* 1 cup heavy whipping cream
* 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1. In a medium, heavy saucepan, bring the sugar and cream to a rolling boil. Boil one minute. Add soda, and boil one more minute. Remove from heat. Add butter, but do not stir yet. Let the mixture cool.
2. Beat well. Stir in pecans if desired.
