What is one of the best recipes your grandmother has made you? Tell me some memories you have?

My grandmother is no longer living but I still crave her cooking. I find it to be very true that even though I may beable to make her recipes the food never tastes like hers. Something about her making it and being able to be with her while I eat makes the world of difference in how well it tastes. Everytime I came over to her house she would make her famous Banana Pudding. I loved it so much but most of all I miss her. What is one of the best recipes your grandmother has made you? mmmmmmmmm..... HOMEMADE CHICKEN %26amp; NOODLES !!

Now that was some GOOD COOKING !!!! But then again, I never ate anything that my grandmother made that didn't taste GREAT!

Funny thing was .. she never, ever measured anything .. she would make cakes, cookies, breads, pies, and entrees including the chicken %26amp; noodles, meatloaf, you name it ..and she NEVER measured any of the ingredients. I don't even know if she owned measuring spoons or cups. It was always just dump some flour in a bowl, sprinkle in some salt, add a dash of baking soda, etc .. and it always tasted AWESOME!What is one of the best recipes your grandmother has made you? NEVER HAD A GRANDMOM....LUCKY YOU!
I feel ya, my grandma was a great cook. She made an incredible Pineapple upside down cake, Buckeye cookies (peanut butter balls dipped in melted chocolate, then allowed to harden) and other desserts. She was the daughter of Ukrainian immigrants so she also kept some delicious ethnic dishes alive with her cooking, like Halushki, which is fried cabbage mixed with egg noodles. Sooo good to have during lent.
tamales and menudo...man i miss all that. when christmas would come around i could look forward to some good eatin'. she made the mendo with the right amount of spices and her tamales were NEVER dry! even when she was blind...with some help from the familia she still could make some bad *** food! it must be the love our loved ones put into it cause i cant find anything close to the food she made us! i miss her so much.
My Grandmother was a Head Cook for a Rural school in Northwest Alaska. So when she cooked it was always in large amounts, even at home. She would get on the phone and tell all her kids and relatives...(my uncles and aunts) to come and eat. She would make Caribou soup, Moose ribs, but the best was the Curry fish. Coming in a close second, would be the hot bread, or if we had been good, cinnamon rolls. I miss you Ahna!
Every year for my birthday my gramma made me the most delicious cake. It was chocolate with a thick layer of caramel running through the middle. I have no idea how to make it, but I agree, it just wouldn't be the same. She also made great pineapple upside down cake and bread pudding. To this day I can't eat either of these w/out getting choked up. I miss her also!
grannys turkey dressing and stuffing rock!!!
My grandma has a huge old cooking-apple tree, and she was ALWAYS making applesauce. It was super-delicious, plenty of sugar and cinnamon and sometimes she'd add huckleberries too. My best friend and I spent a lot of time there, and she'd give us applesauce in fancy old-fashioned glass dishes, and we'd lie on the floor next to the heat vent (it was soooo strong! :) and eat.

Awww - nice question. Thanks for sharing!
My grandma has always treated me with her famous Mexican Pecan Candy. I remember going over to her house many times when I was younger and her making some just for me, but hiding it from everybody else! It's a secret family recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation. There are several very specific steps and it would really take years to be able to master the techniques and make it as perfect as grandmas. When my mom was very ill and we knew that she wouldn't make it much longer, my grandma came over and taught me how to make the candy because she knew that my mom would never get the chance to. There were no specific measurements, but I just jotted down all of the steps and tips that she gave me. That recipe is something that I will always treasure. One day I will pass it on to my children.
